Jalalabad Ragib Rabeya Medical College
Jalalabad Ragib Rabeya Medical College (JRRMC) is a private medical institution in the Bimanbandar area of Sylhet district, Bangladesh. Set up in 1995, it runs under the medical science division of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. The famous industrialist couple,Ragib Ali and Rabeya Khatun, established this institution for providing quality medical education to the students of Bangladesh. The college offers a 5-year Bachelor in Medicine, Bachelor in Surgery (MBBS) degree, recognized by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). A one-year internship is part of the degree curriculum at JRRMC. The teaching philosophy of the college is based on a structured, institutional teaching ideology, with a pursuit of perfection. It aims at providing each student with advanced knowledge and expertise of the 21st-century medical science. Campus Facilities With a total area of 8.22 acres, the college offers numerous facilities to students. Separate hostels exist for boys and girls and international students. All classrooms are well equipped with audio-visual facilities, computers, and internet connectivity. College also houses a subsidized canteen and mess for students and staff.Jalalabad Ragib Rabeya Medical College also offers postgraduate studies in areas such as Internal Medicine, Otolaryngology, Dermatology, General Surgery, Psychiatry, Physical Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Pathology, Paediatric Surgery, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Radiology & Imaging, Ophthalmology and Cardiology with assistance from the Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS). Admissions Process To take part in the admission process for Jalalabad Ragib Rabeya Medical College, a candidate must have Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at HSC Level. For foreign students, a viva-voce examination is conducted, and past qualification of SSC and HSC (or equivalent) is also evaluated. As per the guidelines of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, the final selection of candidates is based on merit in the national entrance test conducted by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Bangladesh. There are reserved seats for children of freedom fighters and Underprivileged families. !90 students are admitted to the college each year.
